Its the beginning of a new semester, the fifth one. Aside from the usual settling-in problems, there has been no real issue. Oh yeah except a small attack of chicken pox. Getting chicken pox is bad enough but getting it at 20 makes me rue the fact that I did not shake hands with the kid in my class who got the pox when I was 12. Would have made a things a lot easier. Anyway, its a new dawn and I'm now officialy a member of the upper half of the pyramid of engineering hierarchy. Living in a single room has really helped me ascend a level in terms of being disorganised but hey, whats life without a little (more) freedom ? ;)
One thing that just refuses to change is the overpowering drowsiness that seems to set in as soon as the first word is out of the professor's mouth. I don't know how they do that, but I have to hand it to them, they are quite good at it. New classrooms that are HUGE haven't helped either. Sitting in the last bench, you would believe you were hearing the professor speak orcish. A lot of gurgles punctuated by a few well placed grunts.
My first day came a week later than the rest of my class (interesting/obvious fact: chicken don't get chicken pox) and the course which caught my attention was Engineering Economics. No it's not interesting (its economics, use your head), but it felt like primary school again. The teacher (i'm going to drop prof this time) wanted "all notes on the table" so that she could check them. Being very particular about students having the right stationery, she deemed it apt to give a rap on the knuckles to everyone who did not have a pencil (Criteria: pencil should be longer than the middle finger). One of her innocent questions apparently included "Why don't guys carry pencil boxes?." Yes ma'am we share your concern that guys don't wear ponytails anymore either.
There's a lot to look forward to in this semester. Club recruitments will mean getting to know more people which is welcome and quite a bit refreshing. Coupled with the tech-fest and a new found enthusiasm to learn something new, times are becoming more promising. Hoping for a tough but satisfying four months :D
